ARCADE MODE:

Intro:

(We are a treated to a panoramic view of Manila.)

Rafael (v/o): This is Manila, the capital of the Philippines.  Pretty cool isn't it? It's not only where I grew up, but also knew how to fight.

(We then see Rafael inside the octagon of an MMA gym working on some moves.)

Rafael (v/o): My name is Rafael Santos. I'm an MMA prodigy thanks to my father who trained me when I was 8. I've dedicated every fight to him now, because he's no longer here with me.

(We are then treated to a flashback of Rafael's father fighting off several thugs while a young Rafael is being shielded by his mother as Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth's They Reminisce Over You plays in the background.)

Rafael (v/o): It all started back when I was 12, when a couple of thugs try to attack my father. I didn't know what they wanted with him, but I thought it was because he was a former fighter, they wanted to challenge him.

(Rafael's father successfully fends off the thugs until one shadow figure pulls out a gun and shoots Rafael's father in the head. )

Rafael (v/o): One by one, my father was knocking the thugs out until someone pulled a gun and shot my father.

Young Rafael: Dad!

Rafael (v/o): I remembered my mother running towards him and holding him close as tears trickled down her cheeks. Then, the man with the gun walked towards my mother and pulled the trigger on her as well.

(The shadow figure is about to shoot Rafael when police sirens blare, causing the figure to flee.)

Rafael (v/o): I never forgot that day. I never forgot what that person took away from me!

(The flashback ends as Rafael is about to leave the gym and he sees a flyer for the Lord of the Underground tournament.)

Rafael (v/o): Since then, I've been trying to find out who was responsible for the murder of my parents, and I thought I would run in to a dead end until someone mentioned something about a tournament called Lord of the Underground. Whatever it is, I may find some answers in regards to who murder my parents. Don't worry mom and dad, I will find the person who murdered you and kill the son of a bitch!

Stage 4 Rival: Suchin Rama

(Scene takes place in a temple in Chiang Mai. We see Suchin Rama finishing her ritual dance called the Ram Muay. She turns around and sees Rafael clapping.)

Rafael: Hey, not bad.

Suchin: Can I help you?

Rafael: Not really. Say, aren't you that Muay Thai sweetheart? Yeah, you're Suchin Rama!

Suchin: That I am. You want an autograph?

Rafael: I've heard you've competed in the Lord of the Underground and I need some answers.

Suchin: What answers? I don't know what you're talking about.

Rafael: The person who murdered my parents is the host of that tournament, and I want to kill him. Do you know who he is?

Suchin: I do, but you're not going to kill him. Not if I kill him first.

Rafael: You're not gonna stop me from avenging my parents' death!

Cutscene:

Rafael: Man, you're as tough as advertised on TV.

Suchin: Who are you?

Rafael: My name is Rafael Santos. I'm looking to find the person who killed my parents.

Suchin: I see. Well, I wish you great luck in finding justice for your parents.

Rafael: Thanks. Say, anytime you want a rematch, I'll fly you out to Manila.

Suchin: Right, and I'll be there to put you down!

Rival Fight: Pierre Geroux

(Scene takes place in Osiris' Underground Arena and Casino. The DJ announces the next fight.)

DJ: Okay everyone, we got ourselves an interesting fight. It's the MMA Prodigy from the Philippines, Rafael Santos taking on the French Underground King, Pierre Geroux

Rafael: Alright, an underground fighter! Maybe I can get some answers out of you about my parent's death.

Pierre: Your parents' death? I would know nothing about that. I'm only here to fight and win!

Rafael: So am I, but I'm also doing this for the sake of my parents. Let's get this underway, shall we?

Final Boss: Osiris

(After defeating Pierre, Rafael is declared the winner.)

Rafael: Damn that was a good fight!

(Rafael is then approached by Osiris' secretary, a slender African American female wearing a business suit and shades.)

Secretary: Mr. Santos..?

Rafael: Hey..

Secretary: He's ready to see you.

(We then see Rafael entering Osiris' office, which is now a square office with stylish blue and black interior, a liquor bar, pool table, and a new view of the New York Skyline in the background. The room is now dimly lit, but the desk where Osiris sits at is still dark, concealing him. Osiris puffs smoke before talking.)

Osiris: Well, what do we have here?

Rafael: An MMA prodigy from the Philippines.

Osiris: The Philippines you say? I haven't been there in a long time.

Rafael: What do you mean?

Osiris: That's none of your business.

Rafael: I wanna know.

Osiris: I said it's none of your damn business.

Rafael: Well it's going to my business if you don't tell me!

Osiris: Fine, have it your way. You wanna know why I was in the Philippines? Let me fill you in.

(We are treated to a flashback from earlier where Rafael's father was fighting the thugs that attacked him.)

Osiris (v/o): You see, I was part of a notorious underground gang that hosted small death match tournaments. One of those participants was suppose to lose the fight, but instead the motherfucker decided to win the fight. My former boss sent several goons to take him down.

(We then see the shadow figure that was holding a gun emerging into view, who is none other than Osiris, who has a fade haircut and a beard and mustache and wearing a fubu football jersey and jeans. Osiris shoots both Rafael's father and mother.)

Osiris (v/o): When things started to look rough, that's when I stepped in and had to take him and his bitch out…right in front of their kid. Bang..bang…*chuckles*

(The flashback ends and we see Rafael gritting his teeth and balling up his fists.)

Rafael: That was my mother and father you had killed! You son of a bitch!

Osiris: Oh, that was your mother and father? Ha! Just from that flashback I knew you look familiar. Just didn't think you would be here years later.

Rafael: And now I'm here to kick your ass!

Osiris: Really?

(Osiris emerges from the darkness, cigar in hand.)

Osiris: I don't think that's going to happen.

Rafael: That's what you think!

Osiris: I think you're one move away from your funeral!

(Osiris gets up from his seat, pushing his desk aside. He cracks his knuckles, preparing to fight.)

Osiris: Business time starts now!

Ending:

(We see Rafael in a cemetery, standing over the graves of his mother and father. He places flowers on both their graves.)

Rafael: Hey mom…Hey dad. I did it. I finally found the bastard responsible for your deaths and I made pay by beating the life out of him. I know you would be proud of that, dad.

(Rafael sighs and sees a young boy in a park happily skipping with his mom and dad.)

Rafael: I miss you guys so much. I really hope that one day, we'll be together. But for now, I want the both of you to enjoy this victory. Justice has been served.

(We hear a honking sound from a car, which catches Rafael's attention.)

Rafael: Okay uncle, I'm coming!

(Rafael turns back to face his mother and father's grave.)

Rafael: Well, I gotta get going. I gotta do some more training. See ya.

(Rafael leaves a kiss on the stone markers of his parents' graves and goes to get inside his uncle's car. The car drives off the camera zooms out slowly and fades to black. We then see the logo for Lord of the Underground 2 as Lord of the Underground's Chief Rocka (Jazzy Underground Remix) plays in the background. The credits roll as we see the characters in their stages.)

It's time to meet one of the new challengers in the underground. Say hello to Rafael Santos. Rafael is an MMA fighter with a tragic backstory. His parents were killed by thugs and was raised by his trainers. Rafael fights to avenge his parents' deaths and will not rest to find the person responsible. Think of him as a male version of Chun Li and Josie Rizal (minus the crying). Like Chun Li, he looks to avenge his parent's deaths and like Josie Rizal, he's from the Philippines. So, if you like Filipino fighting characters like Talim and Josie Rizal, you'll love Rafael.
